How is PULSE POWERTM different from all other chargers or charger/conditioners and How does PULSE POWERTM actually work? |
PULSE
POWERTM
charges the battery in 1 second pulses based on the
charge profile of the battery pack and the operating
characteristics of the portable device (e.g. Panasonic
CF25 Portable Computer). A typical one second pulse cycle
is as follows:
The SECRET is in the "Negative-Pulse" (discharge) segment of the cycle. This re-combines the gases thereby eliminating the oxidation of the plates and the build up of the "memory effect" (voltage depression. |
PULSE
POWERTM
determines when the battery has reached full charge by
monitoring the charge voltage and detecting the exact
time that the voltage stops increasing. This is "VOLTAGE
INFLECTION TERMINATION", the absolute best
way to terminate (or stop) the rapid charge which
eliminates any chance of overcharging or overheating of
the battery pack. When the battery is fully charged PULSE POWERTM automatically initiates the maintenance mode. While in the maintenance mode PULSE POWERTM periodically performs a pulse charge cycle based on the charge profile of the battery pack. THIS IS THE PULSE POWERTM ADVANTAGE!!! |
Why not use the charger that comes with the portable device (e.g. phone)? |
YOU CAN!!
However, in most cases the charger that is supplied with
the phone is what is referred to as a "trickle
charger" or "overnight charger" and means
the battery will require a full 10 to 12
hours of recharging. It has been strongly suggested that the battery be completely discharged before recharging to slow the impending "memory effect". YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL OF THE BATTERY, THE BATTERY CONTROLS YOU!! With today's busy schedules, when polled, most cellular phone users preferred the ability to charge their batteries when they wanted to and in a much shorter period of time. Usually 4 hours or less!! THE PULSE POWERTM ADVANTAGE: ONE HOUR CHARGING!! -There are NO....switches to set, NO....dials to turn and NO....buttons to push: simply place the battery on PULSE POWERTM. The battery is automatically charged to 100% capacity in approximately 1 hour while SIMULTANEOUSLY eliminating any "memory effect" (voltage depression). When the battery is fully charged PULSE POWERTM automatically initiates the maintenance mode. THE PULSE POWERTM MAINTENANCE MODE IS NOT A TRICKLE CHARGE!!! PULSE POWERTM PUTS YOU IN CONTROL OF THE BATTERY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF BATTERIES!! |
What is traditional rapid charging and why is it bad for the battery? |
Rapid charging generally means charging the battery in approximately 1 - 3 hours. Commonly called a "Current Pump"! When charge current is put into the battery it creates gases; mainly hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen gases attach to the plates in the form of gas bubbles. Gas bubbles over a period of time cause a deterioration of the battery through oxidation of the plates and the formulation of dendrites; or what is referred to as "memory effect" (voltage depression). Generally, over a short period of time , the talk-time and stand-by time deteriorate to a level where calls are dropped or no longer can be made. This leads to you, the consumer, to the unnecessary, premature and COSTLY disposal of batteries. |
What does conditioning the battery mean? |
Because the portable device
(e.g. telephone or camcorder) shuts off before the
battery is fully discharged or the user charges the
battery before fully discharging, the battery
"remembers" the last level of discharge and
will only charge to that level. Each time this occurs,
talk time and standby time get less and less due to
diminished capacity of the battery. This is commonly
referred to as "memory effect" (voltage
depression). To eliminate this phenomena a rapid
charger/conditioner which performs a deep discharge cycle
before charging is employed to eliminate the memory
build-up. That was the norm until PULSE POWERTM. THE PULSE POWERTM ADVANTAGE: The PULSE POWERTM pulsing technique requires no deep discharge (conditioning). Utilizing the latest in microprocessor technology and custom circuitryPULSE POWERTM employs a patented "Negative Pulse" charge via unique 1 second cycles which charges the battery to 100% capacity every time while SIMULTANEOUSLY eliminating "memory effect" (voltage depression). This is called the Microconditioning CycleTM or "burping" the battery. |
Why is conditioning bad for the battery? |
Each full discharge in a
conditioning / charger consumes one cycle of the rated
300-400 charge life cycles. A life cycle will also be
used if power fails; if unit is inadvertently
disconnected while battery is charging; or if the battery
is removed and returned to the charger. If there are weak
cells or cells that are below a safe level (usually 1
volt) when the deep discharge is performed these cells
can reverse polarity (swap polarity) and become ruined
thus rendering the battery useless. THE PULSE POWERTM ADVANTAGE: Only the energy used need be replaced. It is not necessary to do a deep discharge with PULSE POWER. The "Negative Pulse" during each 1 second pulse cycle eliminates the chance of damage to the batteries due to "under discharge". PULSE POWERTM extends battery charge life cycles to over 2000 (typically rated as 300-400 life cycles - but realistically 150 - 200 cycles). |
What does "topping off" a battery mean? |
When users become impatient, in
a hurry or generally can't wait for their battery to be
completely discharged before recharging, they place the
battery on their charger (current pump) prematurely and
top it off. This action is the BIGGEST contributor to the
"memory effect" that quickly develops and
eventually ruins the battery. THE PULSE POWERTM ADVANTAGE: It doesn't matter at what charge level the battery is, simply place it in a PULSE POWERTM charging system. The battery can be partially charged or fully charged as many times as necessary without fear of creating "memory effect" (voltage depression). The benefits are many, including increased battery reliability, talk time for cellular phone and two way radios and overall longer battery life. This saves money spent on new batteries while HELPING TO SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT by reducing their premature disposal ! THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF BATTERIES THE USER IS IN CONTROL OF THE BATTERY INSTEAD OF THE BATTERY CONTROLLING THE USER!! |
I have some old batteries what should I do with them? |
Don't dispose of those old batteries until you use PULSE POWERTM. After 4, 5 or more charge/use cycles PULSE POWERTM in many cases will restore "dead batteries" -batteries that have developed "memory effect" (voltage depression) to original or near original capacity. Unfortunately, not all batteries can be saved, depending on the history of the battery, physical damage occurs, shorted or leaky cells develop and in these cases usually the battery cannot be saved. However, remember, please be kind to our environment and recycle NiCd and Ni-MH batteries. |
What is the maintenance mode and Is the PULSE POWERTM maintenance mode a trickle charge? |
Maintenance mode in conventional
rapid chargers simply consists of switching from rapid
charging to trickle charging. This method continues to
force energy into a fully charged battery which must be
dissipated as damaging heat. As this process continues,
this heat will RUIN your batteries!! THE PULSE POWERTM ADVANTAGE: The PULSE POWERTM maintenance mode is automatically initiated upon completion of a normal charge sequence. The maintenance mode performs one pulse charge cycle every 15 - 45 seconds depending on the model. THIS IS NOT A TRICKLE CHARGE! PULSE POWER holds the battery at full charge without ever overcharging and/or overheating. You can leave the battery in the charging system indefinitely. This technique extends the life of the battery from 5 to 10 times. It saves money and saves the environment while ENSURING optimal maximum power (thus for example, ensuring maximum possible air time for cellular phones and two way radios). |
What does the green indicator light mean? |
GREEN READY LIGHT.......... flashes when the PULSE POWERTM charging cycle is complete and has entered the maintenance mode. Battery is ready for use. Battery can be removed and used now or anytime during the charge cycle without ever damaging the battery. If you leave your battery in the charger, the yellow charging light blinks on periodically to let you know that your battery's charge is being maintained at the proper level. |
What does the yellow indicator light mean? |
YELLOW CHARGING LIGHT..........
Pulses while PULSE
POWERTM
is charging the battery and simultaneously eliminating
"memory effect" (voltage depression). Yellow
Charging Light also illuminates each time a pulse charge
is performed during maintenance mode (once every 15 - 45
seconds depending on battery profile). AGAIN, THIS IS NOT A TRICKLE CHARGE!!! |
What does the orange indicator light mean? |
ORANGE OVERHEAT LIGHT..........Illuminates if PULSE POWERTM determines that internal temperature exceeds a safe level and terminates charging cycle. Battery may be charged and can be immediately used. If left on the charger, charger will transfer to maintenance mode when safely cooled. |
What does the red indicator light mean? |
RED DEFECTIVE LIGHT..........Illuminates
if your battery is defective by PULSE POWERTM's patented microprocessor. PULSE POWERTM may be able to recover a defective
battery. Retry 4 or 5 times by removing and replacing
battery. Should Red Defective Light continue to light,
battery can no longer be charged and should be disposed
of properly. PLEASE REMEMBER....NEVER THROW YOUR OLD BATTERIES IN THE GARBAGE - RETURN BATTERIES TO WHERE YOU BOUGHT THEM. |
